The Glucose Field Guide

About The Glucose Field Guide

I am not a doctor. I am a guy with a glucose monitor on his arm.

Last year a routine blood test came back pointing the wrong way. Not
diabetes, but heading there, and my family history made that worth
paying attention to. So I stuck a monitor on the back of my arm and
started testing my own dinners.

The first thing I learned was that the order I ate in changed the result
more than the food did. One weeknight dinner, pasta and garlic bread and
a side salad. Eaten the usual way it raised my blood sugar 72 points.
Eaten salad first, with ten squats after, it raised it 30.

I have been testing things ever since. My wife says I have become
insufferable at dinner parties.

Every weekday I put one ordinary food on the monitor and show you the
chart. Smoothies, oatmeal, pizza, wine. No food is off limits and
nothing gets a free pass.

No calorie targets. No banned foods. No lectures. Just what the monitor
recorded, and a simple way to enjoy the same meal with a smaller rise.

Stay steady.

Free, every weekday

One food. One monitor. One honest chart.
